Airlines of Australia prohibit Galaxy Note 7 flight – Globo.com

After Samsung stop the Galaxy Note 7 sales and announced the recall of handsets sold, three Australian airlines began to prohibit passengers using these smartphones during flights.

The veto was made during notices before takeoff from aircraft companies Virgin Australia, Qantas and Jetstar, Australia. After that, representatives confirmed the bans.

“Following the recall of Samsung in Australia Galaxy Note 7, we are requesting that passengers have a not connect or recharge while on board,” a spokesman for Qantas, Jetstar owner group.

last Friday (2), Samsung said it had received 35 reports of cases where the Galaxy Note 7 was on fire when it was recharged. To curb the problem, the company announced a recall of all 10 markets where the phone was sold.

In Australia, Samsung accounted for more than 51,000 devices that would target the recall. Worldwide, 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 had been sold.

The smartphone was launched just under two weeks before the South Korean company to announce the recall. The incident forced the company to postpone the arrival of Note 7 to other countries, such as Brazil, where the premiere was scheduled for September.

The main new features of the Galaxy Note 7 are the curved edges, a pencil optical and total resistance to water.
