Galaxy Note 7 and Gorilla Glass 5 have tested resistance [video] – Tecmundo

One of the reasons that made the Galaxy Note 7 extremely promising was the fact that it is the first device on the market to rely on the new protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. This, in turn, generated one known question: as the new device is able to endure? The Xeetechcare YouTube channel has come to put this to the test, making the good old drop test to know what the phablet is able to endure.

In the video, you can check out below, the youtuber leaves the unit falling from heights and has common results somewhat predictable. The back of the Note 7, for example, suffers a few scratches on its edges – which is common, since this tends to show the weakest part of the cell. The lateral aluminum obviously also suffer great damage in the fall, but they do not have any structural damage.

But what about the screen itself? Well, on that we have good news: when brought down in this way, the Galaxy Note 7 does not suffer the least harm at all. Whereas this is a great device and that size devices screens tend to break more often, it’s good to see that the Gorilla Glass 5 is actually tougher.

The test of the fall was not the only one applied by Xeetechcare, it is worth noting. Shortly thereafter, the youtuber released another video with new tests. – This time, trying to scratch the handset with a knife and then trying to crush the phablet with a hammer

Again, many may have expected the results: the smartphone had no problem against scratches from a common screen, but the screen was not able to endure the hammering, breaking first the edges around the Home button. To destroy the Galaxy Note 7 as well as its operation, however, it took many blows.

Of course, in the end, you can not expect an indestructible machine. But it seems that Samsung and Corning have managed to do a great job with the Galaxy Note 7. So if you are looking for a device that can endure a day of heavy day, this phablet can be a good choice.
