back in the Big Apple, the musician, actor and composer Seu Jorge hold a series of concerts in the traditional jazz club Blue Note in Manhattan (NY). This is the opportunity for fans to watch live one of the most talented artists of his generation. The shows will take place on 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25, 26, 27 and 28 February, with performances at 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm.

Since its inception in 1981, the Blue Note has become one of the most famous jazz clubs in the world and a true cultural institution in Greenwich Village. The founder and owner Danny Bensusan had aimed to create in the bohemian neighborhood a nightclub that treat the artists with respect, while allowing customers to watch the world’s best jazz musicians in a warm and comfortable environment. Artists who had stopped performing in jazz clubs for several decades, as Sarah Vaughn, Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, Stanley Turrentine, Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown and Tito Puente, soon saw the Blue Night home.

over the years, the Blue Note has functioned as a “magnet” in Greenwich Village, attracting jazz fans from all over the world. Merchants receive weekly reviews in the New York newspapers such as The New York Times, magazines and international travel guides. What makes the place so special is that given night, anything can happen. MUSIC AND BEER -. Seu Jorge, stage name Jorge Mário da Silva, born in Belford Roxo, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, is an actor, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of MPB, samba and soul. Eldest of four children, the others being Charles, Victor and Roger, he had a difficult childhood, but quiet in Gogo community Ema, also in the same city. Seu Jorge began working with 10-year-old in a tire repair shop, first of several occupations, such as continuous, joiner and potato peeler in a bar. He served the Brazilian Army between 1989 and 1990 in Rio de Janeiro, the Armament Central deposit – DCArmt made course of military bugler in the 2nd Battalion of Motorized Infantry School (Procedure DALY), but did not adapt to military life, being licensed in January 1990.

the various professions never overshadowed his real desire to become a musician. Since teenager, attending the samba circles of Rio accompanied his father and brothers in the suburbs funk parties and the periphery charm balls, and soon began to turn professional singing at night. The death of his brother Victor in a massacre led to family breakdown and the Seu Jorge eventually became homeless for about three years. The turning point in his life came when clarinetist Paulo Moura invited to audition for a musical theater. It was approved and eventually participating in more than 20 shows with the theater group at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), as a singer and actor.

In addition to the musical career, Seu Jorge is one of the owners Karavelle the brewery and two bars in the city of São Paulo. In January 2013, he decided to move with his family to Los Angeles (CA) in order to seek safety and education for their three daughters, and to focus more on acting career.
