Earlier this month, Samsung Announced That the number of Galaxy-branded devices would be getting the upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat in the United States. Among Those updates are upgrades for Android 4.4 and Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung Galaxy Note 2, two of Samsung’s former flagship smartphones and devices que remain in the hands of many users around the country.

weeks ago, rumors pointed to KitKat Android 4.4 upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2, two aging former flagships que Have Been Replaced by newer, arguably better smartphones. Those rumors pointed to a release in March or April though They did not suggest specific devices, regions or dates.

A short time ago, started pushing Samsung Galaxy S4 October 3 and Galaxy Note Android 4.4 upgrades KitKat marking the start of the company’s roll in October Shortly after Samsung started pushing updates Those Out, the company finally confirmed the rumors, rumors que had all along pointed to Android 4.4 updates for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.

The confirmation came in the form of a press release was issued que earlier this month by the American arm of Samsung. While we’ve seen Samsung Poland confirm the number of Android 4.4 upgrades, it was Samsung USA que was first.

Releases Within Next Two Months

Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 update KitKat rumors put the releases of these two updates in either March or April. Both rumors are from credible sources so we strongly believe que Samsung plans to start pushing these two updates in either March or April.

Given que

the United States saw an official announcement from Samsung, we expect it to be near the front of the pack in terms of timing so we expect que the United States will see these two roll out updates Within two months. Doubters need only to look at the speed at Which Samsung and its carrier partners are American Rolling Out Android 4.4 for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3.

We saw the AT & T Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note Android 4.4 3 KitKat updates leak ahead of time but we have not seen any other carrier-specific updates emerges ahead of Their release dates. This is par for the course.

Typically, we do not see an avalanche of Android software major leaks. Samsung and its carrier partners have put the clamps down on that. At the most, we expect there to be a couple of KitKat Android 4.4 leaks for U.S. users. At the very worst, we’ll see nothing. We’re leaning towards nothing at this point.

We’re not sure what’s gotten into Sprint these days but we like it. The carrier has been among the first to every single major Samsung Galaxy Android update in recent memory including the updates for the Galaxy Note and Galaxy 3 S4. Step 8: Select Install Zip from sdcard and then click Choose zip from sdcard . Browse to the location of the custom ROM AOSB Which file you copied earlier to your phone’s SD card. Choose Yes on next screen to confirm the ROM installation.

Step 9:. Repeat the previous step to install Google Apps as well

Step 10: Once Google Apps is installed Also, select “Go Back” and reboot the device by tapping reboot system now from the recovery menu. Your Galaxy Note 2 will restart and it may take about 5 minutes for first boot. So, the not interrupt the process.

Your Galaxy Note N7100 2 is now running on Android 4.4.2 via KitKat AOSB ROM. Go to Settings> About Phone to VERIFY the firmware installed.

Note 2 will not come on after charging

Problem : Hi, my Note 2 was working fine but I connected it to the charger over night and in the morning it froze. After I removed the battery and it Replaced the power does not turn on. If I keep the power button pressed then the small red light next to camera flashes for 1 sec and nothing happens. I tried a different battery but no response. Even Showed it to a tech and he said “no issues with the hardware except there is no power coming to the motherboard.” Is direct wire connection from power source to the board the only solution – Saj

Answer : If it was the technician who Suggested there is a need to hardwire your phone then probably Knew what the problem really was. But I think this problem is more than just a software glitch, it must be a hardware problem. And since it’s about the phone not powering up, You Should Set Your focus first on the power sources.

Try to plug your phone to your computer and see if the computer can detect it and que the phone would charge. While connected to the computer, power on the phone normally. If it would not respond, press and hold the Power button. If That does not work either, try booting up to Recovery Mode, press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons for at least 7 seconds. If any of these procedures do not work, try a different battery and repeat these procedures.

Before you go any further, by the way, try to inspect the receptors in your phone. If one of Them is crooked, try fixing que first to make sure each receiver touches the interface of the battery.

But I do not quite understand what you meant by “direct wire.” if the phone is already out of warranty and you have thought of something That Could fix or remedy this problem, then it’s worth doing, but at your own risk. I would still recommend you bring the phone to an authorized Samsung technician to have it checked properly.

Fring app will not load anymore on Note 2

Problem : Hello dears. I use Fring for VOIP. It used to load very fast on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. But for the last 5-6 months, it take ages to load and in 99% cases it gives error message “Fring is unable to load … Report, Cancel, OK.” After 10-15 minutes of wait. This app works fine on Nokia E72 and Google Nexus 7 (2013). Translation of application I tried many times but the result was same.

Answer : In That Time span, I am pretty sure you have updated your phone to a higher version of Android and if that’s the case, it’s a compatibility issue. When a new version of Android is released by Google developers, app developers would usually adapt and build updates for Their Apps. Try going to your list of Apps in Google Play and see if there’s an available update for Fring. You need to be sure about this so even if there’s no update available, you need to uninstall and reinstall the app. But before you do that, here are some things you need to do:

1. Tap Force Close first.
2. Tap Clear Cache, then Clear Data.
3. Go back to your app drawer and launch Fring. See if it still takes forever to load and return and error at the end. If so, then proceed with reinstallation of the app.
4. Tap Uninstall button.
5. Reboot the phone.
6. Launch Google Play Store and find Fring.
7. Download and install the app.

After doing this procedure and the app still gives you an error, email the developer of the app and make a detailed report. The app may just need some updating.

Turn off auto-correct feature on Note 2

Problem : Hi, I’m running OS 4.3 on my Note 2 and have a problem with the spell checker. It’s self-correcting words for me que are already correct, so I have to go back & fix Them. I’ve had this problem with previous Android phones & have gone to the Settings menu & turn off the auto-correct feature. But I can not find it now. Is there a way to turn off auto-correct & if so, how? Thanks -. Betty

Answer : Actually, you’re not the only one who emailed my about this problem. While the predictive text is a useful feature, I do not know why it’s so messed up nowadays. More Often, the words are the Entered ones you really do not want to use. There was a time I supposed to type ‘and’ but the word was Entered que was ‘anal’. I seldom use the predictive feature now, it can sometimes screw you.

By the way, I’m not sure what keyboard you’re using but try this:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
2. Choose Settings and tap My Device tab.
3. Tap Language & Input, then Input Methods.

Keyboards

4. Inside, you’ll see Default Keyboard and Samsung.
5. Tap the wheel beside the keyboard you’re using.

Below the

6. Predictive text is Auto Replacement, que turn off option.

If you can not find the setting to turn off predictive feature, try using a different keyboard app if you desperately need to turn it off.

Transfer saved pages from Note 2 to computer

Question : Hi, how do I copy or transfer internet pages saved from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to my PC with or without Kies – Johan

Answer : Just remember the name of the folder or directory where you saved Those pages. Connect your phone to your computer and just copy the folder that contains all your saved pages. In your computer, open the folder and look for the file que has either. “Html” or. “Htm” extensions and just open it normally. The downside of this is That You need to connect your phone every time you want to copy saved pages.

There is an easy way to do it Especially When You Use Firefox on your Note 2. All you need to do is sync the Firefox application on your phone to the Firefox on your computer and you can view the pages or sites on your PC without connecting your phone via cable.

In case you’re using Google Chrome on your PC, you can use Also android2cloud app. It is a free app from the Play Store and let’s you share your pages from Note 2 to your PC wirelessly. You just need to install this 2Cloud extension on Google Chrome on your PC. Please leave every setting on default.

Once the extension has been installed, launch the Play Store on your phone and search for 2Cloud app and install it. When browsing and you want to transfer the page you’re viewing, you just need to pop your share menu, tap Page Share and share via android2cloud. This will transfer the page to Google Chrome on your computer.

Alternatively, you use bookmark importer apps-there’s a bunch of free ones on the Play Store.

Make Wi-Fi connection on primary Note 2

Problem : First, thank you for your column it has to be enjoyable read and I have learned a lot. My current problem with my Note 2 is, since the 4.3 update. Going from cellular mobile data network (4G/LTE) to AT & T WiFi Before 4.3 update, all I had to do was turn on my WiFi and the Note 2 would change over from WiFi to mobile data network. The emblem on 4G/LTE top notification bar would change over to WiFi badge. After 4.3, the only way I can connect to wifi is to go to setting, then other networks, then turn off mobile data network, then go back and turn on the wifi and it would connect instantly. So that about the extent of my problems from the 4.3 update. Any fixes or suggestions you may have would certainly be appreciated! Thanks again -. Don

Answer : There must be one que setting was messed up. To make your Note 2 connect to your WiFi network When it’s turned on, here’s what you need to do:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
2. Tap Settings, then Connections tab.

3. turn the WiFi on first, then tap WiFi
4. Tap the Menu key, then choose Advanced.
5. Check the box beside ‘Auto network switch.’

Answer : I would assume at this point That You have checked all settings were correct, the volume of the phone was set to an audible level and que the phone was set to emit sound When the text message is received. Problem : Recently I have updated 4.3 on my Note 2 via WiFi I Could Not change my font language after updating. SIM card automatically unmounts on Note 2

Problem : I have had my note 2 for about a month. Bought new and updated to 4.3 then I rooted it. Now When ever the battery gets low my SIM card unmounts and it has trouble charging and unless I turn it off for 20 to 30 minutes it will reboot until I remove the battery. Is this fixable? Thank you!

Answer : I am also guilty of rooting my smartphone even if They Were one-day old. I’m sure if the problem is because of the rooting but you have not mentioned any Significant procedures except for the 4.3 update and rooting. So, the first thing I would have to ask you to do is to unroot your phone and see if the problem solves que. After all, rooting would take just a few minutes to do.

unrooting does not solve the issue, try doing a factory reset just to bring the phone back to its original settings. The to the unmounting of the SIM card, I am sure the weak flow of electric current causes it.

Galaxy Note 2 4.3 update halted

Problem : Droid Guy Hi, I’m using 2 Note running on Android 4.1.2 and I have recently received 4.3 OTA update. I downloaded the file via Wi-Fi network and the device while installing que asked for permission to reboot. After rebooting the software started to install but after 40% of installation the software update just failed for some reason. I checked for memory but there was more than 5GB available. I again follow the entire process again but after 45% the update failed. I tried 2 more times but still unable to update my device. Please help and tell me what the possible case may be.

It means there que Could be some integral parts of the file downloaded fully que weren’t so the installation could not go through. Possible causes of this is bad internet connectivity and unstable server status of your service provider.

The best thing to do is download the package again and this time make sure you really have a stable internet connection. Install the update once the downloading is finished. If this does not work, try connecting your device to your computer and use KIES to pull down the update and install the update from there.

Can not change APN settings

Problem : Dear Droid Guy, I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 T889, unlocked, but I am unable to change the default APN setting. Is there something I can do? Thank you if you are able to respond to this inquiry -. Peter

Answer : Unfortunately, your APN setting was locked out, by your service provider. You may need to call your carrier for it. I understand you can not edit your APN, but can you create another APN instead of trying to edit the existing one? If you can, then do that and use the one you just created.

In cases like this, you may need to unlock your phone. Additionally, installing a custom ROM would help Also, although you would have to root your device to be able to do that, Which would void your warranty.

I have 2 issues from my Galaxy Note 2 (not rooted).

1. 1. When I want to “share” the photo from my pic gallery, it automatically says “unfortunately, the gallery has stopped.” Yes, if I go directly to Facebook, I can upload. In an email or text, I start composing 1st, then I can add the pic attachment. Just can not directly share since upgrade. Weird.
2. 2. I heard it’s a Samsung thing but when i receive SMS from friends, I do not receive Them right away (usually hours later) even though I’m on WiFi I HAVE TO be on date ? I do not have unlimited data … I only have 2 gigs worth so I do not leave it on all the time, only when I’m out and about. but my WiFi is always on when I’m home.

Answer : The first problem is more of an app-specific issue in this case, the Gallery app. However, Facebook integration may have been affected so Also there’s a little chance the FB app may also be Involved. What you need to do is go to the Application Manager and find Gallery. Force close the app and clear its cache and data. Reboot the phone and open Gallery. Try to share the photo and see if the error message still pops up. If it does, do the same to the Facebook app.

About the second problem, well, you neither need nor Wi-Fi mobile date to receive SMS as long as you have good service. You can turn both and still receive SMS provided you are connected to your provider’s network. Problem : I had the Bluetooth on my Galaxy Note 2 When I was in the store picking up my phone. I was asking about the speaker They Were selling and sales rep I needed to turn on Bluetooth in order to hear music through speaker. Well now Bluetooth is not there.

Also it now says no Bluetooth available. This is strange because when i needed it to connect to the wireless speakers did not say it in BT available. In the same location Also it mentioned the connection for the Gear for the new Samsung Galaxy and now it’s not mentioned either -. Stefani

Problem : Droid Guy Hello, my problem is que once a week or so, all my custom ringtones are forgotten by my Note 2, and They revert to default. I then have to go to each one and reset the custom ringtones. Why is this happening and how can I Prevent it? Thanks.

Answer : If your custom ringtones are saved in your external storage or microSD card, this problem would keep on happening. There are always times When the external storage is unmounted for some reason. If this happens, it is expected the phone would revert back to the default ringtones it can not find the custom ones. Additionally, the phone would revert Also During the boot up because Settings are loaded first before the microSD card is read by the phone. To Prevent this problem from happening, save the custom ringtones in your phone’s internal storage.

Problem : Really appreciate your site and have found answers to other issues I have had with my phone, Which Have Been thankfully minimal. I currently have run into something though. Just did the recent firmware update, aside from having to reinstall several apps, I have an issue with adjusting sound settings via phone. It freezes when i go to change the volume, the settings that is. In other words, I click on Apps, click on settings, select my device, sound. Select this volume and freezes. Not all of them seem to freeze, I am able to change some, but not most. Also I have noticed some of the apps that i had to reinstall are now occasionally crashing, bump and Skype are primary ones doing this. Wondering if there is a known bug with the firmware? Thanks for any help info. Really appreciate it.

Answer : There were actually bugs with the most recent update but not of this nature. My guess would be, you did the recent update may have corrupted some of the data your installed apps were using. If you do not want to uninstall apps que exhibit the problem then try wiping the partition via the Recovery Mode cache. Notice if the problem still exist.
