Samsung was the first company to enter the smart watch market when it launched its Galaxy Gear last month. The application of the mobile gadget was initially only compatible with the Galaxy Note 3 and Note 10.1, but the company recently announced that the Android 4.3 update to expand compatibility with smartwatch for Galaxy S4.

Now, the Korean manufacturer has stated that the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will also have access to the new version of Google’s operating system, which accepts clock application. In addition, the mini S4, S4 Active, 5.8 Mega, 6.3 Mega Zoom and S4 also become compatible with the gear through a separate update which will start later this month.

According to JK Shin, Samsung executive, extend compatibility with other devices for smartwatch “reflects the deep commitment of the company to offer enriched mobile experiences for consumers.” There has been no confirmation if the update that will allow the use of the app Gear on other devices besides Note 3 and Note 10.1 S4 is related or not with Android 4.3.

Even with the news, it should be noted that updates to the operating system from Google is a subject notoriously fragmented, with operators acting as gates that hold the distribution of new software versions. Thus, it may be that the compatibility with the clock still takes considerable time to get in other countries.
