The Note 3 was just Announced yesterday, and it Appears to be quite the monster! Now that the next-gen Note has arrived, we are left wondering how the Note 3 compares to the previous-gen Note 2.
So let’s jump in and from a quick comparison, shall we?
Handset Design
At first glance, the Note 3 and Note 2 might look the same-about – but there is one big difference: the Note 3 ditches the glossy plastic found on the Note 2.
While the handset still technically uses plastic, this time around it is a faux leather. The end result is a more ‘premium’ look and feel, as well as the texture that is softer and Therefore easier to grip.
for the size? The Note 3 might have a bigger display and more impressive internals, but it’s actually smaller at 151.2 x 79.1 x 8.3mm and weighs less at 168 grams. In contrast, the Note 2 is 151 x 80.5 x 9.4mm and weighs in at 182 grams.
Display
While the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 featured a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED dipsplay with a resolution of 720 x 1,280 (267ppi), the Note 3 takes things up a notch with a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED and has a much higher rating of 386ppi.
Hardware
As you can see by the chart above specs, the Galaxy Note 3 is a massive improvement. Depending on if you are in an 3G or 4G LTE market, you will either get a device powered by a 2.3GHz Snapdragon CPU 800 or the octa-core 1.9GHz Exynos (for 3G markets).
Beyondque, the Note 3 features 3GB RAM, 32 or 64 for storeage and microSD expansion. In contrast, the Note 2 has a 1.6GHz Exynos 4412 quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM and either 16, 32 or 64GB of RAM. Also there’s microSD.
Both handsets feature the S-Pen, though the Note 3′s version is said to be a major improvement with a better overall design and improved apps que use it.
Camera
Jumping down to the camera, the Note 3 has a 13MP rear cam versus an 8MP cam in the Note 2. On the front we have a 2.1MP on the Note 3, and a 1.9MP on the Note 2.
you would imagine, the Note 3 is a much better picture taking device, doubly so thanks to an improved camera app on the Note 3.
Battery
The Note 3 has a 3,200 mAh battery, versus the Note 2′s 3,100 mAh. While that’s not much a difference, Samsung claims the que Note 3 is actually more energy efficient than the Note 2.
When it comes down to it, Both devices will probably perform Similarly here, though.
Software
While
Both handsets have obviously Samsung’s Touchwiz, the Note 3 sees the ton of new improvements and runs on Android 4.3 instead of Android 4.2.
Just some of the new features found on the handset include Air Command, Pen Window, My Magazine and more. Additionally, just about every special feature found on the Galaxy S4 is present on the Note 3.
Conclusion
If you already own a Note 2? You will probably get by just fine hanging on to the device for another year – since you are on contract Likely anyhow. That said, the Note is a pretty 3 Significant upgrade.
