American adaptation of Death Note has already director – IGN Portugal

The director Adam Wingard, known for his work on The Guest and You’re Next, signed a contract to make an American remake of Death Note.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, will Wingard start working on Death Note after completing his current project, The Woods. Both Shane Black and Gus Van Sant were two other names that were presumed to be linked to production, but it seems, will not be the case.

The latest screenplay was written by Jeremy Slater, also writer of more recent Fantastic Four reboot. However, only up to Wingard decide whether to be the text you will want to work or not.

The original original Manga Death Note took place between 2003 and 2006, having sold more than 25 million copies, a success which gave rise to a series of television animation, some video games and even Japanese live-action films.
