The Galaxy Note 4 offers a wide range of features to your TouchWiz fueled by the features of the S Pen. Samsung always tries to offer a full suite of applications and services for their customers, but there are always those looking for something more. Thus, out into the universe of alternative ROMs is the best way out.
If you want to try something new in your Note 4, you must first release the root access and have a custom recovery on your device. Made it, just access the recovery of your choice and follow the steps below to make any modification to your smartphone.
To access the recovery you need:
- Turn your Note 4 and turn it on holding the buttons Volume + More Power + Home
- When the boot screen of the Samsung disappear, release the three buttons at the same time
Now in recovery you can make any kind of modification, installing a ROM, kernel, MOD, source, etc. The process is always the same and only requires three basic steps:
Starting with the Backup and Restore . In it, you can back up the internal or external memory of your smartphone. It is advisable to choose “Backup to / storage / extSdCard1″ , so if you accidentally erase the memory of your Note 4, you will not lose the backup you made.
The second step is to do the cleaning of the system for installing a new ROM. Here, you must select the “Wipe data / factory reset” and “Wipe cache partition” . After finishing the two, go to the Advanced and select “Wipe Dalvik cache” . Now your system is completely clean to receive the new ROM.
Third and last step is to install the file you want. Just go in the “Install Zip” and select one of the options seen in the image below. If you played the zipped file in the internal memory of the Note 4, then you should choose the first option “choose zip from / sdcard” if you have placed the file on your microSD card, then you should choose the second item “choose zip from / storage / extSdCard1″ . When you finish the installation, just go back to main menu and select “Reboot system now” .
Okay, now you can make any type of installation you want on your smartphone. Recalling that make Wipe data / factory reset is essential for installing new ROMs. If you want to install only a new kernel, MOD or other type of file, you only need the other two wipes:. Cache and Dalvik
It is strongly recommended always back up before making any changes. If an error occurs, you can restore your system going and Restore Backup and selecting “Restore from / storage / extSdCard1″ , and everything will be as before.
