Rosa Passos was born and grew up surrounded by music in the city of Salvador (BA) and the african-Brazilian culture. Encouraged by his parents, at age five he was already a promising pianist. At 15, she has appeared on television in Salvador. In adolescence, his parents showed him a collection of João Gilberto and Tom Jobim records. Inspired by the movie Black Orpheus, 1959, and its soundtrack, Rose changed his piano for guitar and since then has been dedicated to the art of composing and singing. She is constantly remembered as the “João Gilberto skirts”.

In April 1972, his interpretation of Mutilated, Antonio Cesar Nunes and Joao Carlos Morais won the first championship of Bahia university music, sponsored by TV Itapoan. His compositions, written with his long lyricist partner, the composer Fernando de Oliveira, appeared in 1979 in his first album, “Recreation”. After spending several years only through devoting himself to his family, Rosa returned to music in 1985, resuming his career. In 1991, Pink released her first CD, “Curare”, an album containing the classic chords of MPB, including Tom Jobim, Ary Barroso, Carlos Lyra, Johnny Alf, Bororo, Djavan, among others. In 1996, he released the CD “Manga to cloth.” Most of the songs on this CD is authored by Rosa Passos and Fernando de Oliveira.

The compositions of the Bahian artist attracted the interest of the American singer Kenny Rankin, in 1997, recorded the songs “Summer” (Those Eyes) and “Autumn” (Stay) in English, both with vocals Rose. In September 1996, Oscar Castro Neves, a resident Brazilian musician in the US, invited Rose to join a Brazilian night at the Jazz at the Bowl, held at the Hollywood Bowl in California. Since the American premiere of Rose, his international career has grown over the years. 2015 was the year of reissues where Rosa Passos in partnership with the recording Fine Biscuit launched a collection where it meets the great classics of Ary Barroso, Tom Jobim and Dorival Caymmi, when she honored separately each artist.
