In 2014, Samsung surprised the market phablets launching the first device in the category with a side screen, the Galaxy Note Edge. The device, however, has only one side covered by the curved display. LG, his compatriot, stepped forward and launched at CES 2015 a new technology with two side covered with screen – which is still in testing, but already shows a greater extent than its competitor.
Both South Korean compete in end to end of each item on the market; especially when it comes to display. LG managed to be a pioneer in this regard, launching the G Flex last year. The flexible curved screen smartphone, however, did not have a very good definition. For the new G Flex 2 recently launched the screen P-OLED has grown significantly in quality. So much so that the company decided to forego its rival Samsung and present in Las Vegas the evolution of the curved side panels.
In fact, we do not have a smartphone itself. The device unveiled at CES was merely a frame to highlight the 6-inch display . LG, however, is one of the most famous market screen suppliers, so that the new panel with two side already have in your calendar as the leading manufacturers Xiaomi.
Unfortunately, the rush, in this case, was the enemy of perfection, as the old saying tells us. Running out of time to overcome the Galaxy Note Edge, LG seems to have achieved a display of style with high definition. As the first generation of the G Flex, the new screen with dual side has only one resolution HD distributed in 6-inch diagonal.
For now, LG does not have a smartphone itself for this screen, and mass production has not yet begun (which prevents the adoption of any manufacturer in the display, even for very LG). Speculation, however, point to an improved version of the new panel and that should come with the LG G4 , something to face the same type of display that can come in Samsung Galaxy S6 .
