Exynos 5430 – Is this the new SoC Galaxy Note 4? – Pplware

The new eight-core SoC from Samsung

With the release of Alpha Galaxy, Samsung also made known its first SoC (System On Chip) using 20nm manufacturing process, the eight-core Exynos 5430.

The reduction of the chip size brings significant advantages of which highlights energy efficiency. According to Samsung itself, it is possible to obtain a reduction of energy consumption by 25% compared to existing 28nm SoCs.

The segment of SoC has evolved significantly in recent years. The increase in processing power is always one of the goals but energy efficiency has been one of the fundamental requirements for success. The new Exynos 5430 is first SoC 20nm Samsung comes with Cortex A15 / Cortex A7 (both four-core) which has been used in eight processors Exynos older cores.

However Cortex A15 is now 1.8GHz and the 1.3GHz Cortex A7. The Mali GPU in the Exynos 5430 T628MP6 used is the same as the Exynos 5422, but comes with a slight increase in frequency from 533MHz to 600MHz.

The holder 5430 also Exynos big.LITTLE HMP (Heterogeneous Multi-Processing) technology, which means that the eight cores can be active simultaneously, but may also be active / off individually in accordance with processing requirements. In terms of resolution, this new SoC supports WQHD (2560 × 1440) and WQXGA (2560 × 1600).

Another interesting feature is the integration of modem Intel LTE’s XMM7260 category 6 (300 Mbps) LTE allowing enjoy all the features of 4G.

In addition to Alpha Galaxy, the Exynos 5430 SoC will probably oo that come with the Galaxy Note 4.

What is the SoC that is currently considered to offer the best performance, together with better energy management?
