Xiaomi is a company that continues to grow and in less than five years have joined the select group of the largest manufacturers of smartphones in the world. However, the Chinese company has never been kind to the most advanced Android users, denying release the source code of your system so that developers can make customizations and bring improvements to the system MIUI . However, while celebrating its five aninhos life, she decided to present its customers and release the Mi3 the kernel code, MI4 and Mi Note.
The Mi3 flagship was announced in September 2013, winning a successor in July 2014. Throughout this time the company came under fire for its discerning customers by not releasing the GPLv2 , need to work on the Linux kernel and bring improvements to this model with the Release custom kernels, with updated drivers and support for new features. The company, in the face of so much pressure, never explain the reason for never having released the kernel to its customers.
In December, Hugo Barra promised that the news would be released earlier this year. The promise was not fulfilled on time, but at least users can now count on the news. For those who want to get their hands on code just check the page on GitHub the Xiaomi. Now devs can launch custom ROMs with better stability, and bring new kernels with more features, providing greater control over the company’s smartphones.
It is not yet clear whether the Xiaomi adopt the rules of GPL or launched this kernel just to satisfy their more energetic guests. Let’s hope it continues releasing the code and keep a good support of the large community of Android developers have.
