iPhone 4 and Galaxy Note 6 Plus in comparative optical image stabilization
By Larissa Ximenes – Two major phablets launched in the market in recent months, Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 have a very welcome feature for those who love to use their devices for taking pictures and shooting home videos, which is the Optical Image Stabilization. Both phablets are equipped with the gizmo, which ensures much and minimize the effects of earthquakes on the recordings of the videos and photographs taken by the devices

Of course this is not the only advantage of the stabilizer, since it can optimize for example the quality of photos taken in dark environments by decreasing the shutter speed. And it is a fact that the stabilization feature will end any tremor in the hands of whoever is holding the device, and even though many people think they have steady hands, it happens more often than you think, even if it is trembling lightweight and is not noticed.
The Samsung calls the particular implementation of Smart OIS, which ends up being just a marketing term that means the joint effort of both the aforementioned feature with Digital Image Stabilization by software. This also happens with the phablet Apple, joining their efforts with an improvement by the software, but Apple calls it Cinematic Video Stabilization
So, the question that remains is:. One is better than the other? The truth is that they deal well with tremors and image stabilization, but much depends on the type of scenario and how they are used. For example, in the video below you can notice that the Note 4 coped better with this stabilization when the tremors were weak to medium, while the iPhone 6 Plus fared better when who was doing the shooting was shaking more exaggerated form. So if you’re shooting still or walking slowly, probably Note 4 will do better, and if you are running, jumping or very quick movements, the iPhone 6 Plus is the best choice.
The test was conducted by staff of the PhoneArena, who said at the end of the analysis that even though the two are almost tied in the category, Note 4 is still slightly better than the iPhone 6 Plus in the question. Check out the video and see if you agree with them or not:
