Earlier this year, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners were led to believe que They would be getting an update to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Leaks Suggested que it would be happening and Given que They Both were and still are on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, it was logical to think que They would be jumping up to the next version of Google’s software.

For Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners, a new Android update has been a long time coming. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has not received a major update since Android Jelly Bean Android 4.1 started rolling out back in September though Samsung did roll out the Premium Suite update que gave owners access to features like Multi-Window View. For Galaxy Note 2 owners, the situation has been much worse.

Samsung-Galaxy-S3-wireless-charger-006-Review-575x380

Back in September of last year, the Galaxy Note 2 rolled out with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board, one of the first smartphones to the so. However, this is where the device has Remained since its arrival last year and the device owners did not receive an incremental update Premium Suite to keep Them Happy During the long wait.

So, When the Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 update was pegged for July or August back in June, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Both owners were excited as it looked like Samsung was pushing towards a release. Then, in mid-July, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners received some bad news, news que pointed to a major delay.

Rumors Suggested que the devices would be skipping Android 4.2 (boo!) in support of Android 4.3 (hurray!) que and the updates would Be Out sometime late in the year, possibly to the late November (boo!). As it turns out, this six month old information may not have been dead on.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen some major developments with the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 updates and it Appears que They will be getting upgrades Their sometime soon. Well, at least most of the variants will.

Here, we breakdown que everything there is to know about the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 updates, Ahead of Their release.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update

Samsung Galaxy S3 users are anxious about Their next big Android update and we’re not surprised. It has been a long time since the former flagship Android has received a major update with Android 4.1 Representing the last big release from Google. However, Galaxy S3 owners should not have to wait long for the software to arrive.

Screen-Shot-2013-10-21-at-04.09.26-AM-620x261

Earlier this week, we found the listing inside of the Samsung Galaxy Gear Manual que confirmed the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3. Samsung hinted at the software Galaxy Note 3 During the launch event, saying que a future update would bring support for the Galaxy Gear, but it did not Identify the software by name.

Now, it’s clear que que Android 4.3 will be update as it will bring Bluetooth LE support to the Galaxy S3, que something makes sense to the Galaxy Gear is a Bluetooth powered device. There will be other features on board as well.

Here is what Samsung has confirmed to be on board the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update When it arrives. The Same features Should be on board the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update as well.

  • Samsung KNOX *, a secure and comprehensive mobile solution for enterprises and Consumers. (* Galaxy S III Samsung 3G version will get KNOX with a platform security only in select countries.)
  • Smart Switch to seamlessly transfer content from other smartphones to Samsung devices.
  • HomeSync to store, share and enjoy content securely wherever you are.
  • Group Play 2.5 with shared video support.
  • New capabilities

  • Provide easier text input, and updated graphics and multimedia.

We fully expect there to be Samsung Galaxy S4 features TouchWiz on board as well. An early Android 4.2 Galaxy S3 leak pointed to a new lockscreen, the new camera features, new S-Voice, Voice and new controls. We doubt Samsung Those killed off in the jump to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

So That We now know it’s coming and it will have que features big time, the big question is When. Well, all signs are pointing to a release starting very soon. Signs have pointed to November and Samsung itself says it will be starting que Galaxy Gear support updates by the end of October. At this point, we do not expect the update to arrive outside of November.

Of course, there are some caveats que Galaxy S3 owners need to know about. One, Australian carrier Telstra plans to roll out Android 4.2.2 before it Rolls Out Android 4.3. It’s unclear if it will be the only carrier to the so. And two, Galaxy S3 users in the United States Should not expect the update any time soon. Extensive testing Should push it back weeks from the initial arrival. We spotted the AT & T Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update awhile back but que does not mean it’ll be out in. the near future.

Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.3 Update 2

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update has been linked with the Galaxy Note Android 4.3 update 2 from the very beginning. When one sees information emerges, the other does too. So, It Should eats no surprise que updates the figure to be fairly similar with rumors que Suggesting the Galaxy Note 2 may get some features from the Galaxy Note 3. Those features are what exactly is unclear, at least at the moment.

Screen Shot at 10/24/2013 9:23:02 AM

confirmed the Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.3 update 2, que saying it too would have many features on board, but the company did not say when owners can expect it. Rumors have pointed to November or December all along and Telstra is pointing to a release in late November, a sign the que unbranded, unlocked software Could roll out a few weeks before that. At this point, November is looking good though the specific date is known.

2 The Galaxy Note Android 4.3 update has leaked but the software is Merely a test build and Should be avoided by everyone but well Traveled tinkerers who want to get Their hands on it early.

Android 4.4 KitKat Next

These two updates may not be the final updates for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. Rumor has it, Android 4.4 KitKat is in the works for both of these former flagships though we have no idea When the update might roll in October

android_kitkat

KitKat

Android 4.4 is expected to touch down in just a few days and Given que Android 4.3 is not even checked out, we do not expect anything to roll out until 2014. And for U.S. owners, that means deep Likely 2014.

This is not the first email we received about the issue. But that is not the case in recent emails we received. There is a ton of possible Reasons why this problem happens but The Following are the things you could do in case you encounter this issue.

Use the charger, not the laptop / computer . Many are used to charging this phone using Their laptops or computers. It charges but does take longer time to complete. Galaxy Note 2′s charging unit gives October 2A (2 amps) while current Usually gives the laptop and the desktop October 0.5A, 1A. Now you get the logic why charging your phone through these machines would take a little more time to complete.

Turn off phone while charging . One thing to speed up the charging process is to turn the phone until it’s full. If you have not done so, we urge you to try it, you’ll notice the battery much faster than full passe When the phone is off. The downside, However, is que you will not be able to receive text messages, incoming calls, or emails. But you can turn off some wireless connectivity when you’re not using Them, at least, while you’re charging the phone.

The Denver Post - Denver Post

is advertising its new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 “phablet” smartphone and its Galaxy Gear smartwatch, above left, to the new power couple, but only the third note is worth the hype. The Galaxy’s Gear limitedapps make it not ready for prime time. ( SeongJoon Cho, Bloomberg )

Samsung is marketing the Galaxy Note 3 “phablet” Gear smartwatch the Galaxy and the new power couple.

Unfortunately for the manufacturer, only one device lives up to the hype.

The Note 3, a cross between a phone and tablet thanks to its larger 5.7-inch touchscreen display, is a worthy follow-up to the Note 2. In fact, it is the type of update more often Do cornichons see, rather than the incremental upgrades pushed out this year with the Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S.

With the

Note 3 Samsung manages to pack a bigger screen into a thinner and lighter frame. The differences are instantly noticeable to anyone who’s handled the Note 2, Which features a 5.5-inch display.

The company

Also Replaced the trademark plastic back cover found on its flagship phones que made the devices feel cheaper When Compared with the iPhone 5′s glass body. The Note 3 sports a faux-leather back cover with fake stitching around the edges, giving the device a somewhat elegant appearance.

Strangely, as others have Noted, the black version of the Note 3 feels more like leather than the white version.

The new design is a vast improvement over the plastic predecessor, while Maintaining the ability to be easily removed for access to the battery and microSD slot.

The Android-powered Note 3 is indeed a mini-computer, equipped with 3 gigabytes of RAM and a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor. Those internals allow the device to handle pretty much anything mobile app designers can throw at it.

Samsung added new software features to pair with the included stylus or S Pen. Most notable is Action Memo, Which can read a handwritten word or number as though it were typed. For example, the user can jot down a phone number with the S Pen and quickly call the number through the Action Memo program. It works most of the time, even with messy handwriting.

As expected, the battery life on the Note 3 is fantastic, simply because of its size. A full day’s use will drain Typically less than 50 percent of the juice, Eliminating the need for a back-up charger at work or in the car, something iPhone and other smartphone owners have grown accustomed to.

must-have accessory, although pricey at $ 60, is the S-View Flip Cover. The cover features a window about half the size of the que screen gives users quick access to the camera and music apps. Also calls can be answered while the cover is closed with a swipe over the window.

The Note 3

will not appeal to the many users as the Samsung’s Galaxy S4 because of its size, but it is the top device. The phone is available from all four major wireless carriers. AT & T and Verizon sell it for $ 300 with a two-year contract. The retail price without a contract is about $ 700.

Galaxy Gear

Now, onto to the disappointing Galaxy Gear smartwatch. While it is stylish and features a responsive, 1.6-inch touchscreen display, the watch simply does not do enough to warrant its $ 300 price tag.

Currently, it works only with the Note 3 and the latest Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, though the company has said it will be compatible with other Samsung devices, such as the S4, in the near future.

To set up the watch, you first have to touch the Note 3 with the Gear’s charging base, Which activates the installation of the Gear-manager software onto the phone. The Gear Manager Allows you to pick the style of the time-piece display, install apps and change other settings on the watch. The watch pairs with the Bluetooth Note 3 and the devices have to be roughly Within 25 feet of each other to stay connected.

The Gear is not the complete dud because it does Improve on shortcomings of previous smartwatches. The battery life is acceptable, offering about two day’s of use on a single charge.

And the

Gear actually looks good on the wrist, similar to Martian’s smartwatch and unlike bulky Motorola’s MOTOACTV watch.

During about three weeks’ of testing, I found just a few worthwhile uses for the watch, other than to tell time.

First, answering calls while driving works well enough with a swipe on the display. The person on the other end will not be able to tell que you’re talking through the microphone’s watch, Which, along with the speaker, is integrated into the band’s clasp. However, the sound you hear is similar to having a smartphone on speaker, and Placing calls through the watch is a pain because of the small display.

Second, the watch Allows for quick and easy captures of decent-quality images and video with the 2-megapixel camera that’s on the front of the band, though the recordings are limited to 15 seconds each.

Third, the media controller on the watch is handy to start, stop and advance Note 3 When the music is paired with an external Bluetooth speaker.

Receiving appointment and text notifications on the watch Could be useful for Those Who Carry Their phone in a purse. But while you can read text messages on the watch, you can respond to Them only by using the S Voice feature, Which Is the frustration waiting to happen. It’s not the worth the trouble.

The biggest drawback, fouled the lack of compatibility with other devices, que is the initial apps included with the Gear are limited and virtually useless. Some just do not work.

You can receive Facebook notifications on the watch, but can not see the contents. Also you can not read or send emails.

Samsung did not even release a simple app Starbucks, Which was included with the Android-based smartwatch from WIMM Labs, a company Google recently acquired. The watch was released WIMM Labs Nearly two years in August The golf GPS app, like the one featured on Motorola’s MOTOACTV Golf Edition, Also would seem like a no-brainer.

Personally, I’m a Note 3 owner, but will not consider purchasing the Gear until Samsung adds more functionality to the programs and watch.

design, however, some changes are visible. The S4 follows the traditional model of the Galaxy line and has more fragile body, plastic, and is available in three colors: white, black and blue. Conclusion

S4 and Note 3 are not exactly competitors, not only because they are made by the same company, but because they are in different market categories: cellular and foblet respectively. However, for those who want to opt for one of them, there are several aspects to be taken into consideration.

When it comes to hardware, there is no doubt that the Note 3 is much higher. However, in portability, S4 takes advantage – although not one of the more portable available.

For those planning to choose between a top of the line Samsung launched this year, worth investing in foblet – if the 5.7-inch screen does not bother. But that does not mean that the S4 is a bad investment. Quite the contrary: it is one of the best smartphones on the market today. In the final count of the comparison, Note 3 wins duel with 4 points from 2.
